UNDERSTAND THE TREATMENT
What is platelet-rich plasma?
PRP is prepared from a small sample of your blood. A centrifuge separates and concentrates the platelets in plasma. Your clinician then injects the preparation into selected areas of the scalp.
How can it help?
Platelets release growth factors involved in tissue repair. Research suggests PRP may improve hair density and thickness in some people with pattern hair loss, although protocols vary and results are not guaranteed.
A treatment plan, not just a procedure.
Hair loss has many causes. Your dermatologist evaluates your pattern of thinning, scalp health, history, and goals before recommending PRP. Treatment may be combined with medication or other approaches when appropriate. PRP does not create new follicles or work equally well for every type of hair loss.

PERSONALIZED CANDIDACY
Early or moderate thinning
People with functioning follicles and gradual pattern thinning may be candidates. PRP is generally less useful where follicles are no longer active.
A broader hair-loss plan
PRP may complement treatments such as minoxidil or prescription medication. Your dermatologist explains which options fit your diagnosis.
Not every type of hair loss
Sudden shedding, scalp inflammation, and scarring hair loss need specific evaluation. Treating the underlying condition takes priority.
Safety comes first
Tell us about medications, bleeding or platelet disorders, active infections, pregnancy, and other medical conditions. These can affect suitability.

PRP: your questions, answered.
When will I see results?
Hair grows in cycles, so changes take months rather than days. Some patients notice less shedding or improved thickness after a series of treatments; others do not respond. Your dermatologist will discuss a realistic review timeline.
What are the risks and recovery?
Temporary scalp tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising, or pinpoint bleeding can occur. Infection and other complications are possible. Many people return to routine activities soon afterward, but your clinician will give specific washing, exercise, and aftercare instructions.
How many sessions will I need?
A series of treatments is often considered, with maintenance depending on your response. The number and spacing of visits should be personalized. Ask for the complete recommended plan and total expected cost before starting.
What does PRP cost? Is it covered by insurance?
PRP for hair restoration is generally self-pay and is typically not covered by insurance. Our team will confirm consultation fees, per-session pricing, and the proposed treatment cost before you commit.
Is PRP the same as stem-cell treatment?
No. PRP is a platelet-rich preparation derived from your blood, not a stem-cell treatment. Its use for hair restoration does not mean the FDA has approved PRP as a hair-loss treatment. Your clinician can explain the evidence and uncertainties.
