What does Tono do for primary care?
Two things. First, Tono keeps a list of patients who need a primary care physician and refers them to the practices we work with. Second, our board-certified dermatologists see your patients within days, virtually or in person across 33 states, and send the plan back to you. Both are free and require no technology.
How do I receive patients from Tono?
Ask to join our referral list using the form below. Our dermatologists care for many patients who need a primary care physician, or need one closer to home, and we refer to the practices we work with, matched by geography and need.
How do I refer a patient?
Through TonoConnect, our free physician portal, in about a minute, or the way you refer today. A Tono care coordinator schedules the patient, usually within days, and you receive the consult note after the visit.
How long does it take to get a dermatology appointment?
Nationally, the average wait for a new dermatology appointment is more than a month, and in many communities it is several months. Tono schedules most patients referred by primary care within one to seven days, by video or in person, and the consult note returns to the referring physician after the visit.
What should I refer?
Anything you would rather a dermatologist see: rashes you cannot place, acne or eczema not responding to treatment, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, suspicious or changing lesions, hair loss, chronic itch, medication reactions, and any patient who needs a systemic or biologic therapy started and monitored. We see children as well as adults.
Does telehealth work for dermatology?
For most of what primary care refers, yes. Dermatology is a visual specialty, and our platform captures the images and history a dermatologist needs. When a patient should be examined in person, biopsied, or treated procedurally, we see them at a Tono center or coordinate care close to home.
Will I hear back after the visit?
After every visit. The note returns to you with the diagnosis, the plan, and what to watch for. Your patient stays your patient; we handle the skin. If something needs a conversation, our dermatologist calls you.
What does it cost, and does it require IT?
