A note from Dr. Ghias
Dr. Mondana Ghias
Board-certified dermatologist. HS specialist. Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, Tono.
I have spent more than ten years caring for people with hidradenitis suppurativa. In that time I have watched too many patients wait years for a name for what they had, see doctor after doctor, and be told it was just a boil.
This work is my calling, and it is why we built Tono. We brought together some of the finest HS physicians in the country, dermatologists who treat this disease every day, study it, and, most importantly, work to make living with it easier. We built Tono to stand with every patient, and to walk beside you through your care.
Here is what I want you to know. There is no good time to have HS, but there has never been a better one. Each year we understand this disease more clearly, treat it more effectively, and partner with our patients more closely. I cannot promise you a result, and I would be wary of anyone who does. What I can promise is that we will get to know you, personalize your care, and work to get you better, step by step. The road is not always bright. It is brighter when you know that a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in HS is in your pocket, always connected to you. We look forward to knowing you, and we would be honored to be part of your care, or the care of someone you love.

EVERY STAGE, EVERY PATIENT
From first flares to advanced disease requiring biologics, our specialists treat the full spectrum of hidradenitis suppurativa. Treated early and treated well, HS can be stopped from progressing. Many of our patients are thriving. There is real hope.
STAGE I · MILD
Recurring boils and tender lumps
It is not “just acne,” and it is never too early. Treating HS at stage I can change the course of the disease.
STAGE II · MODERATE
Abscesses, tunnels, and scarring
We calm flares, treat active disease, and work to stop progression, with a plan built around your life.
STAGE III · SEVERE
Widespread, advanced disease
Advanced therapies, including biologics, managed by specialists who treat severe HS every day.
TELEHEALTH, BUILT FOR HS
HS is one of the conditions best suited to video care, and for many patients, it’s a better experience than the clinic.
Purpose-built for HS care, with 20,000+ patients treated. Our internal outcomes research suggests results comparable to in-person care at academic medical centers.
“HS needs an in-person exam.”
HS is visual. Video works.
Specialists recognize HS from your history and what they see on video and photos, then start a real treatment plan the same day. If you ever need an in-person step, your specialist guides you.
“Telehealth can’t prescribe real treatment.”
Full treatment, to your pharmacy
Your Tono specialist prescribes the complete range of HS therapies, from topicals to advanced biologics, sent to your local pharmacy, with labs coordinated near you.
“I’ll wait months to see a specialist.”
Seen in days, even mid-flare
Appointments within 2 days, not months. And because visits happen from home, your specialist can see you during a flare, when it matters most.
“It’s awkward to show my skin.”
Private, from the comfort of home
HS is personal, and many people delay care out of embarrassment. No waiting rooms, no exam tables, just a private conversation with a specialist who treats HS every day.

If two or more of these sound familiar, it may be time to talk with an HS specialist.
Painful lumps, boils, or abscesses that keep coming back in the same spots.
They drain, heal, then return, sometimes leaving scars or tunnels under the skin
It started in your teens, 20s, or 30s and flares on and off.
They show up in skin folds, armpits, groin, buttocks, inner thighs, or under the breasts
You have been told it is just a boil, acne, or an ingrown hair, but it never really goes away.
You have avoided getting it checked because it is painful, private, or embarrassing.

What you're feeling could be a recognized medical condition called hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). It's driven by inflammation under the skin, it affects many people, and it's treatable. Because it tends to show up in private places, it often goes unspoken, so most people live with it for years before they ever hear the word HS. The moment it has a name, you can start getting real relief.

Why HS goes undiagnosed
HS is common, and it is almost always caught late. The numbers explain why so many people are told it is just a boil.
