We built what specialty dermatology has been missing
135 million Americans lack adequate access to dermatology care. For patients living with hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, immune-related skin toxicities from cancer therapy, the wait isn't just long. It's dangerous. Conditions progress. The window of opportunity closes. Lives narrow.
The system wasn't built to reach these patients. We started Tono because we believed it could be.
Not with another directory. Not with another telehealth platform that connects patients to whoever happens to be available. We set out to build something fundamentally different: a nationally scaled network of leading subspecialists, powered by purpose-built clinical technology, delivering the kind of care that used to require living near a major academic medical center.
The recipe
We've spent years studying what actually moves the needle in specialty care, not in theory, but in practice. The answer isn't just more telehealth. It isn't another marketplace. It's three things, working together:
World-class physicians. Leading subspecialists who treat the cases other providers refer out. Doctors who publish the research, lead the specialty centers, and define the standard of care. The experts other dermatologists call. The clinical network is not a feature of the solution. It is the solution.

Why now

Dr. Mondana Ghias is a board-certified dermatologist and one of the field's leading voices in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), oncodermatology, and biologic therapy for complex inflammatory disease. A graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, she completed her residency at Einstein/Montefiore and holds a faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and serves on the medical staff at Astera Cancer Center and Atlantic Health System. She has authored more than two dozen peer-reviewed publications, including research that has shaped how HS is diagnosed and treated nationally, and serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. As Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Tono Health, she is building the clinical infrastructure to bring subspecialty dermatology to every patient who needs it.
