Mondana Ghias, MD
Dr. Mondana Ghias is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in hidradenitis suppurativa, oncodermatology, and biologic therapy, with faculty appointments at Mount Sinai, Astera Cancer Center, and Atlantic Health System. She is Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Tono Health, where she is building the clinical infrastructure to bring subspecialty dermatology to every patient who needs it.
At Tono, we wanted a name that embodied excellence, precision, and the attention to detail that defines advanced specialty medicine. We sought a name that was easy to say, inclusive, and aligned with our mission to simplify the complexity of healthcare, making top-tier medical care accessible to everyone.
At the founding of Tono, Dr. Mondana Ghias was driven by a desire to express the values of excellence in science and accessibility across cultures and languages to help humanity—principles that lie at the core of Tono. This vision was inspired by her childhood and the influence of her mother, who moved to America as a scientist to pursue virology at the highest level, earning a PhD from Johns Hopkins and building a career at the NIH. From her upbringing, Dr. Ghias understood firsthand the challenges that language barriers can pose in healthcare. Tono reflects these values—it’s a name that is easy to pronounce and memorable, symbolizing our commitment to bridging gaps and ensuring all communities have access to expert care.
The Tono brand is designed to be both bold and approachable, celebrating the potential of modern medicine. Our logo is carefully crafted to build trust and connection between our dermatologists and patients, with precision and science reflected in its balance and geometry. The simplicity of the logo makes it approachable, while the use of Tono purple hints at the underlying complexity that has been thoughtfully simplified through the patient experience. We wanted the brand to stand for more than just medical care; it’s about fostering relationships and delivering expert, compassionate care.
Our color palette is clinical, luxurious, and highlights our commitment to innovation. Clean white conveys a sense of calmness and clinical precision, while the Tono purple symbolizes hope and luxury quality with a touch of royalty. These colors are overlaid with modern, futuristic hues in the patient experience to convey innovation, excellence in medicine, and scientific progress.
At Tono, we are committed to helping patients reach their full potential through the power and possibility of modern medicine. We are continually developing our brand identity by advancing our technology and expanding our network of specialist doctors to enhance patient care. Our dedication to innovation, inclusivity, and excellence drives us to unlock new opportunities in dermatology and beyond, enabling us to reach more patients in more places.
